...is the meta changing soon?
pulting sobbing crying

let's be real nothing is changing for a WHILE.
Specifically, think about how things are going with set releases and where we stand.
- Louisville happens OCTOBER 9-11 THIS WEEKEND
- Delta Reign is legal November 20th (6 weeks after Louisville)
- the next set will be some aggregation scalper special set in January with not tooooo many cards (but they could be good).
Point 2 is the important 1. We have 6 more weeks of cups and challenges. Moreover, there are more cups happening in these next 6 weeks than the last 6 weeks. So most of your tourney run will be in this same format.
But even then, you can argue that there's not many placements of Mega ray or other new decks in Delta Reign in Japan, so maybe nothing happens at all until January.
what even is this format?
it's the same as worlds but like mew
Here's the issue on that. Almost no results are present using mew (at least so far). Nothing that makes people scared.
There's a few other things of course too
and maybe a few others in slowking. but there's two problems. Either I'm not hearing about it enough for them to make a difference, or they're legitimately not getting results and not seeing play. There's also baby box, which appears to be a lie unless someone is brave enough to say their 60 will make day 2.
For all intents and purposes, it's like the 30th anniversary set didn't even release. Actually, it seems that streamed tourney matches specifically have more effect on the meta, such as Frankfurt regionals finals lists.

I've seen more of this at tournaments than 30th anniversary cards. And none of these are even new.
Heck people have been talking in my group chat more about the two following cards than any other card for the past release: psyduck and flutter mane
Psyduck being the thing that cancels out Alakaboom, and Flutter Mane being the counter to that.
So where do we stand?
If there are no new interesting decks in Louisville or any other tournament, until November, not much will change in the next 6 weeks. So you can keep preparing with your current strategy. if it's working of course.
Vegas prep will be for Delta Reign. But maybe nothing really needs prepping. It's possible that nothing changes until January, if Delta Reign isn't popular enough either.
The counterargument
we're all dirty copiers. deck archtypes don't get simultaneously discovered. we didn't get pult hammers until it got cool results. Hence, we might not be waiting on ANY new releasees at all if no one discovers the deck.
the counter counter argument
what was just said above is copium I would love to tell myself as a newbie. However spending a lot of effort on new deck research is a lot of time wasted not getting in reps and practicing. and it shatters your confidence, thinking everything was built wrong.
what everyone really cares about is "does it beat pult." Therefore the new decks that have not been discovered that COULD place well in regionals are going to be overlooked combinations that can beat pult. Alakaboom was something like that, due to pure aggression and a duck-less meta.
However pult will change once again it's found to counter any new d**eck and then we come back to the same stalemate.
So really, we come to an ultimate question
is there a new deck that can get results this year that can both beat pult and cannot be countered?
maybe? I personally think that might happen due to unown finding a way to be consistently aggro, as there's still not a deck with proven results with it. Other than that, nothing else really has shown to outpace item lock draw spport spread damage all in one deck.
Truly, pult is unique, as it really is representative of the BW-XY era. it's both Seismitoad EX and Landorus EX in the same deck, while also having the same setup as lost box Comfey. While also in several ways, matching some of the rubber banding of Gardevour ex munki in both damage and energy.
So on that note, I think chances are slim. it's pretty much hopeless, and many decks are instead settling for a battle for second place. But also because of that, it's very hard to argue to switch decks, as there's not much movement.
other than being very bored
bro I'll make a cinccino ex deck work trust me you can beat pult as long as they never flip heads ez ez
